England Women ready for Jillaroos challenge | RLWC26 Game 2 Preview

England Women will face reigning world champions Australia Jillaroos on Saturday as they continue their 2026 Rugby League World Cup campaign.

They will play Australia in Perth, Australia (K.O. 10.05am BST).

Stuart Barrow's side opened their tournament in emphatic fashion with a 70-6 victory over Wales, scoring 13 tries to get their campaign off to the perfect start.

However, a stern test now awaits as they prepare to take on the Jillaroos.

Australia arrive as the benchmark in the women's international game and England will be looking to produce a performance that reflects the progress made since the sides last met in Las Vegas back in early 2025.

The two nations have met on four previous occasions, with England still searching for a maiden victory over the Jillaroos.

Their closest meeting came in the opening round of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup in Dewsbury, where England were narrowly beaten 14-6 by the Jillaroos.

While memories of the most recent meeting remain fresh, the current England Women squad presents a different look. Only seven players remain from the team that featured at Allegiant Stadium, including captain Jodie Cunningham, Anna Davies, Liv Wood, Keara Bennett, Hollie-Mae Dodd and Vicky Whitfield.

Head coach Barrow has made several changes following their opening-round victory against Wales.

Molly Jones comes into the side in the centres, replacing vice-captain Georgia Wilson, while Lucie Sams is set to make her international debut.

There is also excitement around a highly anticipated half-back partnership, with reigning Women's Super League Woman of Steel Jenna Foubister named to start alongside Wigan Warriors teammate and playmaker Izzy Rowe, who equalled the record for the most points scored by an England Women's player in an international match.

Then, England will also look to build on a number of standout displays from their opening fixture. Connie Boyd retains her place after claiming a hat-trick against Wales, while Amelia Brown remains in the squad after crossing for two tries, including a stunning long-range effort.

With confidence high after a convincing opening win, England now have an opportunity to test themselves against the world's best as they bid to take another step forward on the sport’s biggest stage.
